However, if you are careless enough to leave your pride and joy uninsured, then follow this quick and easy guide to keeping your phone.
Don’t take your phone with you to unsuitable places
More claims for lost mobile phones are made during July and August than at any other time of year. We think that this may have something to do with the fact that this coincides with festival season.
Bringing your brand new smartphone to a festival or big gig means that you must have a fairly large appetite for destruction. There are so many bad things that can happen to a phone in this environment. You could cake it in mud, someone could stamp on it or you could accidentally leave it ‘by that burrito stall somewhere near Shangri-la’.
Our top tip is to buy a ‘burner’ - a slightly outdated phone that is built like a tank and has a battery life that lasts for seemingly forever. If something happens to this phone, you will still have your nice shiny one waiting for you when you get back home.
Make sure you know who is using your phone
This may sound like a fairly straightforward thing to say but you should really watch out for random people using your phone. There’s so much personal data on our phones these days - everything from credit card data to work emails and the numbers of loved ones. If someone uses your phone without your knowledge they could have a real party.
Make sure that your phone is insured against unauthorised usage by insuring it with so-sure. We protect you against those nasty people for up to £1,000 in damage.
Think about where you use your phone
We know that it’s loads of phone to use your phone everywhere you go but this can bring about some unwanted dangers. It’s not just about making sure that you trying to make sure that your phone is a little less conspicuous when walking through a dimly lit area. It might be worth keeping it under wraps when you go partake in other activities such as running, playing sports, going to the pub or even going to the toilet.
