What is mobile phone theft?

The definition of theft is when someone takes your phone from you using either force or deception.

Unfortunately, there were around 750,000 victims of mobile phone theft in England and Wales in 2012/13. With almost 100,000 of these taking place in London alone.

Mobile phones are increasingly valuable, due not only to their growing sophistication, but also to the personal and financial data that we store on them. Some estimates put the value of data held on typical smartphones at more than the value of the phone itself.
