We all love our beloved furry companions; we enjoy their cuddles and their cheeky behaviour but sometimes left unattended they can cause a lot of destruction, quickly! Whether it’s raiding bins, to chewing cushions or sofas, pet owners don’t know whether to laugh or cry!
The Winner of the UK’s Naughtiest Pet
At SO-SURE, we like to have a little fun, so we ran a competition to find the UK’s naughtiest pet. We asked pet owners to send us photos of their naughty pets in action or of the aftermath. The winner won a £200 Next voucher to help replace those slightly chewed soft furnishings.
We got some hilariously funny and very guilty looking pets in our 150 entries, the winner was hard to choose but we loved the look on Laya’s face with the trail of destruction behind her, so our worthy winner is…
Laya, a mixed breed from Haverfordwest has been named the UK’s naughtiest pet, holding a rather guilty pose after destroying all the cushions on the sofa and covering the living room in feathers. We have heard this isn’t an isolated incident either. Apparently, Laya has done the same to duvet covers and destroyed over 20 pairs of shoes!
The Best (or Worst) of the Rest
After all the great entries, we couldn’t just show you one. Here are some of the best (or worst).
2. Evie, Labradoodle, 1
Evie, a labradoodle from Leeds almost looks proud to have chewed through the family goal net.
3. Daisy, Labrador, 13
Daisy, a Labrador from Cardiff was caught raiding the kitchen back when she was 2. I wonder if she found what she was looking for…
4. Lightning, Greyhound, 3
Lightning, a Greyhound from Bournemouth was kindly given an old mattress topper as a new bed, but it would seem he had other ideas.
5. Gwynnie, Miniature Dachshund, 1
Gwynnie decided she was going to craft herself a sleeping bag out of a pillow, we think it’s rather creative!
6. Orion and Cleo, Moggies, 12 weeks
Orion and Cleo, two kittens from Portsmouth enjoy themselves while removing and shredding all the toilet paper. It’s all fun and games until someone needs the loo…
7. Shelby, Sproodle, 12 weeks
Shelby, a Sproodle from Manchester destroyed her owner’s favourite reading spot, emphasising the importance of giving your dog attention rather than a book.
8. Buster, Bulldog, 6
Buster, a bulldog from Chelmsford likes to help himself to cushions when the covers are in the wash.
9. Leo, Red Fox Labrador
Apparently, this isn’t the first bed Leo has chewed to pieces. The Red Fox Labrador from Truro has a track record of destruction but struggles to hide the guilt in his eyes.
10. Derek, Dachshund, 2
Derek the Dachshund from Leeds was a little younger when he decided it was time to destroy his owner’s favourite pair of heels. We hope they weren’t expensive!
Thank you to everyone who entered our search to find the UK’s Naughtiest Pet competition, it was a lot of fun looking through all the pictures knowing we didn’t have to tidy up the mess.
