Mobile phones are an essential part of our lives and our relationship with them can be intense. In this blog we offer some top tips on how to love and look after your phone ahead of valentine’s day.
Whether we like it or not, we are in a long-term relationship with our phones, but how much time and love do we actually give them? And is it right that we typically trade them in for a younger model so frequently?
In 2016, Aaron Chervenak from Los Angeles travelled to Las Vegas and took his phone relationship to a new level. He married his iPhone in The Little Vegas Chapel as he wanted to raise awareness about society’s growing commitment and reliance on mobile phones and the role they play in people’s lives. Chervenak thought about his relationships and pondered which was the most meaningful. He decided it was the bond he had with his phone.
With Valentine’s day on the horizon, here are some top tips to ensure that your phone relationship is a long and enduring one so you won’t need to contact SO-SURE any time soon to claim on your mobile phone insurance.
SECURITY
It may seem obvious, but make sure you select a challenging pin number, complex password or exotic pattern. If your phone can’t be used by a thief, then the risk of fraud is reduced instantly, as it’s not just your phone that has value; it’s your data, apps and more.
USE A TRACKING APP
This is a simple way to secure your phone and allows you to monitor its location from another device. If you commute or go for a long countryside walk, the chances of getting your phone back are quite slim. This avenue turns the tables in your favour.
KEEP IT CLEAN
Your phone is definitely worth a quick once-over with a bleach-free disinfectant wipe. Standard household cleaners can do serious damage to your phone, so definitely avoid these.
DECLUTTER
Clear the cache for individual apps.
Delete any old apps or ones that you don’t use.
Minimise notifications.
Spring clean your contacts. When was the last time you phoned Ken about your gutters being cleaned? Delete him!
Delete your downloads. They are taking up valuable storage space.
BATTERY LIFE
Consider adjusting the brightness of your screen, silencing your phone, turning on power saving mode and looking at what widgets you need to be active. Lastly, don’t just leave your phone on charge. Keeping it between 30% – 70% will help make your battery last longer and save the battery chemistry within.
JUST IN CASE
A bespoke case goes a long way. Not only can a phone cover or case protect your phone from any unexpected falls, but it also offers a way for you to show your personality and make a fashion statement and in the event of leaving your phone somewhere, it can be easily described.
All these things will help your relationship with your phone to be a loving one, and it doesn’t expect much in return. No need for a Valentine’s card or a dinner reservation, but it could be an awkward conversation when looking for a new model.
